There are many superb hotels in Bangkok, with one regularly winning the 'best in the world' award. These pictures are not of that hotel - but the one 'next door' on the Chao Phraya river, the Shangri La. A simply stunning 6* hotel which I rate the best in the world! The only comparable one is the Shangri La in Singapore. Incidentally, other than staying there, I have no connection with the Shangri La chain!

I have tried to show many different aspects of the hotel - from the grounds, to some of the restaurants, to the night cruise on one of the hotels two boats!

The staff are superb, always helpful but never too much. Facilities can't be criticised. And the food is superb, especially at the Sala Thip Restaurant, serving 'Royal Thai' dishes outdoors on the side of the river (or in airconditioned teak houses if you can't cope with the heat!).

The hotel is also in a superb position being on the river, very close to the Sky Train (Saphan Taksin), and near one of the 'motorway' routes.
